Day 133 Intention ~ Sit Tight

Day 133 Intention ~ Sit Tight

Breathe, find some patience. We are awaiting some news that could be very exciting, but we are now playing the waiting game. We have put ourselves out there and done what we can for now, but the hard part is the waiting (Tom Petty was right!!)

So, instead of getting anxious or trying to force something that needs to happen organically, I am going to settle in and sit tight. My husband & I will prepare as if it is happening, but not get too anxious or overexcited as it may not.

I apologize for the vagueness of this post, but that's where I am at today. So, being true to myself and to you...namaste.
I will continue to have faith.

Til tomorrow...

Shanti,

Marcia

Day 70 Intention ~ Stay Cool Under Pressure

Day 70 Intention ~ Stay Cool Under Pressure

Working a deadline and trying to get everything else together for classes in the evening can make me start to feel the pressure some days. Today, I refuse to let it effect me.

My goal is to keep it cool. Keep breathing and know that it'll all come together if I just keep plugging away. This way of reacting to pressure is much nicer on not only my psyche, but on those around me. Stressing out about things you can't control is not worth it. So just breathe through it and let the cards unfold as they may. Have faith that things will fall into place however the universe means for them to fall.

This isn't always easy & I know that if you've been reading these entries all year, you know that I can blow my top and stress out, but I am learning. Keep the faith. It's much better for you physically too. When we are stressed out our body tightens up (for me it's the shoulders), we may lose some sleep and then it can become emotional and reactionary.
Try to keep breathing, get exercise, meditate, sleep, eat healthy and we'll all be okay.

Til tomorrow...

Shanti,

Marcia

Day 32 Intention ~ Take My Time, I Will Get When It's Time

Day 32 Intention ~ Take my time, I will get there when it's time.

This can be applied to many things...my yoga practice, my career, my enlightenment, even my drive to Berea in the snow. Friends that have known me for a long time know that rushing is not something that I like to do. Whether it is to get out of the house in the morning or to get into a yoga pose that I find challenging. When I was younger, I would sometimes feel little less accomplished because I wasn't working in a career that I necessarily wanted to be in, or I wasn't with my life partner yet when my friends all had seemed to find that love already. Whatever it was that came up, I hadn't figured out what it was that I needed and wanted from this life and it made me feel insecure.

Nowadays, I feel like I am finally doing what I want to do, but am still unsure of what direction it will end up. That's okay. I have realized that my slow & steady pace is what works for me. I am working in the field I want to be in, I have found that love that I want to share a life with, and I can finally (after many years), at least lift up into a forearm stand albeit still armed with a strap & a block...that is okay.

I know that I quote my African proverbs calendar a lot on this blog, but it's kind of going along with my life, sending me little reminders, and today is no exception. It's a Ugandan proverb that reads, "The long, sure way will take you to your destination." Perfect. I can't wait to see what is going to happen when I arrive.

Til tomorrow...

Day 15 Intention ~ Remember That When One Door Closes, Another One Opens

Day 15 Intention ~ Remember that when one door closes, another one opens.

At least that tends to be my experience. Even if a door closes, maybe not all of the way, it is opening up bigger and better things on the other side. We hope. At first, we usually tend to stare at that closing door, wishing it were still wide open.
Alexander Graham Bell said, "When one door closes, another door opens; but we so often look so long and regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us."
There are going to be constant changes in life. The test is how we react to these changes. In my experience, when I have reacted in a way in which I acted as if my world was forever changed for the worse and I would never recover, well, no surprise, it took me longer to enter a new positive space.
When I have reacted with acceptance that the universe must have a bigger and better plan for me, that new door has managed to open a little bit more quickly. Of course, let's be realistic here, it still takes hard work and determination to get what you want in life (at least for most of us). When unexpected changes occur, of course, our hearts may sink a little bit and we feel disappointed...we are still human after all. But, it's how we carry on after that initial disappointment that allows us to move on and grow.
In yoga, we learn to accept what is happening around us at any moment, knowing that change is constant. We are tested through our reactions. When we can come face to face with change and find calm and acceptance, we come that much closer to the end goal...samadhi or bliss.

Miracles

In the great story of Peter Pan it is explained that the way to kill a fairy is to not believe in them, but if you do believe in fairies...  if you believe in them deep down to the center of your whole true self- your faith can save their lives.

Maybe we don't live in Neverland, but the reality is we all have a version of Captain Hook chasing after us, most days he looks like insecurities, fear and low self-esteem. And Tinkerbell looks like  our dreams; some days they're the  smallest hint of light off in the distance and others they're waking you up early for no reason other than to play.

Believing in ourselves and in our dreams can be the hardest job we have, but faith is the one thing we need to always hold on to and if you believe in miracles it opens you to them actually happening.

When Tinkerbell realized that Captain Hook is going to poison her beloved Peter Pan, she drinks the medicin and falls to the ground.

How many times have we thought our dreams died because our planning didn't work out EXACTLY as we planned it? How many times did we think, "Maybe I should give up."

But then Peter and Wendy chanted "I do believe in Fairies. I do. I do." With tears and sweat and pain they brought her back to life.

Failure is giving up on your dreams. Knowing the road may be bumpy but accepting the fact it'll be worth it in the end because one thing is for sure, we're all going to die - so we may as well live when we have the chance.
There are no certainties in this life, but there is faith, there is love, there is hope and there is hard work. Yes, Captain Hook may have you ready to walk the plank, but do you believe in miracles? I do. I do. Do you have faith in you? I do. I do.

You have control over your life than you know, so accept you for what you are. Recognize that our demons can be conquered, have faith and believe. Believe in your dream, believe in fairies, believe in miracles and most of all believe in yourself.

Be honest, be free, be love, believe in miracles and most of all believe in yourself, because everything you need will come to you in time as long as you are patient, you work hard and remember to smile.

The light in me honors and respects the light in you.
