Day 358 Intention ~ Have Safe Travels

Day 358 Intention ~ Have Safe Travels

As we pack up to head to my parents for the holiday, I wish all of you safe travels on the road, whether it is by car, by plane, or people are headed to you this holiday.

Weather this time of year between Cleveland and Rochester, New York is iffy at best. As many wish for a white Christmas, I prefer not to drive in a big snowy mess. As I started packing the car, the snow started falling and hasn't stopped.

I will look forward to pulling in at my parents and warming up with some laughter, love and family for the holiday.

Again, I wish you all safe travels and if you celebrate this holiday, have a wonderful one.

Til tomorrow...

Shanti,

Marcia

Day 247 Intention ~ Hit The Road

Day 247 Intention ~ Hit the Road

Off on another adventure today! I am so lucky. Today we are headed to Virginia for Lock'n Music Festival where we are sure to meet some interesting folks and hear some great music; I am particularly excited for The Black Crowes & Jimmy Cliff! I may even try SUP yoga on the pond there...we will see, I will at least get to the Ashtanga tent (thank goodness!)

Just as I encourage in my yoga classes, I always enjoy the drive/ride to the adventure. That's part of it, right?! So, sure, just like getting into that pose that has eluded you is fun, it's also fun to learn the ways to open & work the body to get to that pose. That is how I look at these adventures my husband and I go on. I always have fun when I am there, but it's also nice to drive down the rode, see the sights and just enjoy the whole trip.

They claim that they put up cell towers at the site where the festival is happening, so I am hoping to keep up my daily intentions with you while I am there. If not, I apologize, but I will be writing them on paper & sending them out once I return next week.

Til tomorrow (I hope!)...

Shanti,

Marcia

Day 201 Intention ~ Chill Out

Day 201 Intention ~ Chill Out

Summer is supposed to be a time of relaxation, hanging out at the pool, laying in a hammock, reading romance novels, being carefree, right? Not really.

Seems to me, summer is a busier time with activities, trips, and work than other times of year. Maybe not busier, but just as busy.

This summer has been no different. I have been going on a rapid pace pretty much all summer with full days off few and far between.

Today, I am going to chill out. Sure, I taught 2 classes today, but once I got home, I took my husband's lead and just relaxed. Luckily, it's kind of a dreary cloudy day here today, so we watched movies and laid around. I even napped.

So for today, let's chill out. We all deserve that from time to time.

Til tomorrow...

Marcia

Day 195 Intention ~ Sleep Tight

Day 195 Intention ~ Sleep Tight

Sounds simple I'm sure, but being on the road in strange beds without my husband makes for funny abnormal sleep. Jen & I worked our butts off in the heat & drove a lot and it just takes it out of a person. One short leg to go before we get home. But for now, I am going to drift off to sleep so ththat I am not zombie-like for my husband tomorrow when I see him.

Til tomorrow..

Day 193 Intention ~ Don't Worry About It

Day 193 Intention ~ Don't Worry About It

So, traveling again.  Horoscopes read today said that there would be some setbacks, as nd that all would be okay.
Today was a busy hard day. Driving, getting our bearings for this show, lots of walking in the hot sun, setting up the booth & parking fiascos. But, still a fun day. When the troublesome issues came up, Jen & I reminded each other of the horoscope and let it go.

Now, I must sleep before another long day tomorrow.

Sweet dreams.

Til tomorrow...

Shanti,

Marcia

Day 188 Intention ~ Ease Back Into My Practice

Day 188 Intention ~ Ease Back Into My Practice

It's been a few days since I've gotten on my mat. Since then I have been on 2 long car rides, hiked, slept in funny beds and been dragged to the ground by George, hurting my shoulder (see post from a few days ago). Needless to say, my body is TIGHT!!! But, alas, my right arm is still not 100% ready for practice. Heck, it still hurts to lift my arm over my head. But, yet, I need to get on my mat.

So, as I would tell my own students...listen to my body. Do what I can and be okay with stopping if necessary. It's still a hard pill to swallow when every part but one is ready to practice. Everything in moderation. Pushing oneself beyond capabilities is just asking to injure oneself during what is supposed to be a healing practice.

So, as I approach my mat today, I will listen to my body and back off when my right shoulder starts to resist my attempts.

Til tomorrow...

Shanti,

Marcia

Day 6 Intention ~ To Remain Calm & Breathe

Day 6 Intention ~ To Remain Calm & Breathe

In the airport. Don't get me wrong, flying is not what gets me unnerved when traveling. It's the airport, the hustle and bustle, the delays, the cancelled flights, the possibility that something could go wrong.

This anxiety is really not unwarranted. Several years ago, when still living in Colorado, my husband and I decided to make the trek back to Rochester to see my family for the holidays. At first, our flight was delayed because of a snow storm in Cincinnati on the first leg of our flights. Then, the delay was so long, we were going to miss our connecting flight to Rochester. So, they switched our flight to a different airline and sent us to Atlanta on Christmas Eve. Luckily, my brother lives there, so we actually got to see him and his family for the holiday. Our next flight, sent us to Philadelphia, where we would get to fly to Rochester. Unfortunately, the baggage folks on that particular airline went on strike Christmas day, so although we made it to Rochester, our bags did not. It goes on from there, but I won't bore you with anymore details.

A positive that came out of that was that we got a free flight anywhere domestic from the first airline. So, we used it for our honeymoon to get to Florida, where we had to catch a little plane to the Caribbean that we could only get on Saturday. Well, lo and behold, there was a computer problem, so our flight to Florida was delayed so we wouldn't get there to make our flight. After many lines and phone calls, they shuffled us around & got us there to get our flight.

Soooo, once on the plane. I am good. Rereading this, I feel like a complete whiner, I mean, really- I know that I have been lucky to get to go to these beautiful places and see my beautiful family and that the hassle was worth it in the end. I also learned that although my husband doesn't practice the physical yoga asana practice, he handles these stressful situations on a much more enlightened and yogic way than I do.

The biggest lesson I learned from these two crazy trips is to breathe. My yoga practice on the mat & definitely in my life have evolved greatly since those trips 7 years ago, but there is still that part of me that feels anxiety until I see that plane on the tarmac and we are boarding.

Until that moment, just breathe.

Shanti,

Marcia
